Note: In the first part, a candidate is asked a variety of personal questions. In light of this fact, suggested answers should be modified to meet your own personal circumstances.
1) How do you organize your time?
I
have a timetable in both my notebook and the cellphone to manage my time. At
the beginning of every term, I fill in the timetable firstly with the curriculum
schedule. Then I can make proper plans for other activities according to the spare
time I have.
or
I sometimes set up reminders for important events or meetings, sometimes
I make lists of tasks to complete, sometimes I set deadlines for myself,
especially when working on an important assignment/project.
2) Do you think young people organize their time in the same way?
Most of my fellow students do it like me. The study is our prime task
anyway, so we have to devote enough time to it. If there is much spare time
left, we may consider joining clubs or doing part-time jobs.
3) Are you ever late for anything?
Yes,
sometimes I sleepover in the morning and was late for the classes. Once I
didn't manage to come back from part-time work to the class-meeting on time.
But generally speaking, I am a punctual person.
or
No, I am a very punctual person. I value time and am never late for
anything unless it is due to some unavoidable and unforeseen circumstances.
4) What excuses do you use when you late?
Excuses
will not help anything, according to me. So I told the truth rather than used
excuses and made apologies to the teachers and my classmates. They all forgave
me in those cases.
or
I am usually not
late for any meetings or appointments. However, if at all I am getting late due
to an unavoidable circumstance, then I inform the person I am meeting,
beforehand. I don’t make excuses.
5) (similar to above) What excuses do people have when are late?
Well,
some people don't like to use excuses when they are late. They just tell the
truth and make apologies then. While some may make up lies or excuses, hoping
not to be blamed by others. But the effect doesn't always turn out to be good.
or
People give
excuses like car or bike breakdown or that they were stuck in traffic when
they are late.
6) Do you like it when others are late?
Some people may mind it, but I don't really hate it when others are
late. I think they must have their own reasons, or no one wants to be blamed
for that.
7) In your country, do people forgive others when they are late?
It
depends on the exact circumstance. In a serious occasion such as a conference
or an appointment, being late is annoying and may not be forgiven. But if it's
a party among friends, I think people won't care if someone comes a little
late.
8) If you had more time, what would you do with the extra time?
I
have been hoping to learn playing the violin since I was 15 years old. But I have
never had enough time to do it because I have to spend most of my time
studying. So if I had more time I would use it to learn the violin.
9) Are
you good at organizing time?
Yes, I am good at organizing time. I set up reminders for important
events and meetings. I am never late for an appointment.
10) Do you
think planning is important for time management?
Yes, planning is essential for good time management. If we don’t plan
ahead, we will tend to waste time doing tasks/things which are unimportant or
unnecessary.
11) Why do
you think some people pay to learn time management?
Time management has become very important in today’s fast-paced world.
Some people pay to take courses on time management so that they can succeed and excel at their work. Some people
are not very good at organizing and managing
time, so they need to take up
courses on managing time well.
12) Do you
think children should learn to manage time?
Yes, definitely. We live in a fast-paced world and children to need to
manage their time well, so that they can deal with the competition and do well
at their studies and later, at their jobs.
13) Why do
some people find it hard to follow their plans?
Some people find it hard to follow their plans because of other pressing
commitments, like family commitments. Some people may be too lazy to follow
their plans.
14) How would you teach your children time management?
Time management can be taught to children by helping them make a
timetable and ensuring that they follow it. Also, children can learn easily
from stories or movies, which teach them a lesson about the importance of time
and managing it well. The parents are role models for children and they should
set a good example for their children.
15) Do old people and young people manage time in a similar way?
No, old and young people do not
manage their time the same way. Old
people have more life experience and they understand the importance of time management better than the young generation. The young people may
be too impulsive or impatient and may not understand the importance of planning
ahead. Another difference is the way the younger generation manages time. They
make more use of technology and the old people may use the traditional methods,
like a timetable or writing
down a list of tasks.
